About our sunroom contractor business in South Gate

How I ended up building sunrooms

I framed houses when I was young, then spent years doing something else entirely before I came back to building. When I did, I went into sunrooms and patio rooms, because they're small enough to do right and big enough to matter. I started South Gate Sunrooms & Patios in 2017, and we're still based here in South Gate.

Most calls start with a patio, deck or old porch somebody's tired of looking at. What I care about is whether the room gets used once we pack up. A sunroom nobody sits in because it's too hot or it leaks is just an expensive porch. I'd rather talk you into the cheaper room than the wrong one. You'll find the kinds of rooms we build on our home page.

What working with us is like

  • We figure out how you'll use the room first

Before we plan anything, we talk through when you'll sit in the room and what you'll do there, because that decides the glass, the insulation and whether heat is worth running. That way you're not paying for heat you won't use or skipping insulation you'll wish you had.

  • The person who looks at your job plans it

I come out and look at every job myself, and I check the slab, deck or wall your room ties into before I put a number on paper. Our own crew does the building, and I check on the work as it goes up.

  • Your estimate says what's in and what isn't

We spell out what the price covers and what it leaves out, so heating, a new slab or permit work don't turn up later as a surprise. If something isn't included, you'll know that before you sign, not after.

Licenses and permits for your sunroom

  • California contractor license

Licensed and fully insured. The state licensing board requires a license to build or alter a structure in California when the job needs a building permit, uses other workers, or runs $1,000 or more in labor and materials, and a sunroom usually hits more than one of those.

  • South Gate business license and permits

South Gate requires a city business license of every contractor working inside city limits, even ones with offices elsewhere, and the city's Building and Safety Division issues permits to the property owner or to a state-licensed contractor who holds that city license. Permits are typically required for home improvement work, so we find out which office handles your address, city or county, take care of the permit steps and tell you early if plans or a review come first.
